In addition to this main task, the School performs a number of activities
related to the education of students with visual impairments:

sensory-motor

in Braille literacy and in using the assistive computer technologies

speech and
language therapy

sports activities
and organization of free time through various extracurricular activities, such
as: choir and orchestra, weaving - ceramic workshop, journalism club, chess
club, etc.

accommodation,
nutrition and preventive health care of VI and MDVI students in the boarding
section from the territory of Serbia

The school yard
is fully adapted for the visually impaired, and the following facilities are
available: sensory garden, polygon for orientation and mobility
●
Resource Centre
is engaged in: printing in Braille and enlarged black print, recording in the
studio and making typhlodidactic funds and toys
●
School provides
professional support and educational resources to students and teachers in the
system of inclusive education classes
●
training of
teachers and other professionals who work with visually impaired students in
mainstream schools and preschools
●
gathering of
professionals from the country and abroad at various professional meetings
●
The school is a
scientific and teaching base for professional practice and research for
students on Faculty of special education and rehabilitation.
Since its founding, the
school has been following modern trends in the education of students with
visual impairments and improving and modernizing its capacities and competencies
of employees.
The main task of the School
in the last two decades has been to establish a modern Resource Centre and
strengthen support for students and teachers in inclusive education. All these
resources enable our school to provide the necessary support to all
participants in inclusive education and to contribute to its improvement.
