The dissemination of the results and training program for teachers in mainstream school in inclusive education

In cooperation with project partners we created content for

TRAINING PROGRAM FOR TEACHERS IN MAINSTREAM SCHOOL IN INCLUSIVE EDUCATION,

as follows:

1st DAY OF EDUCATIONAL TRAINING: GENERAL PART

This part is obligatory for all participants. Total duration of the program is 8 hours.

1.1 Presentation of School for visually impaired pupils “Veljko Ramadanović” and inclusion in Serbia

·        Duration: 1h

·        Lecturer: Principal/director

·        Form: Lecture

Short content: Presentation of the Institution where the blind and partially sighted are educated, presentation of activities and various forms of assistance.

1.2 Blindness and low vision

·        Duration: 1h + 0,5h

·        Lecturer: Typhlopedagogue Radmila Vidović

·        Form: Lecture + simulation workshop

Short content: Presentation of all visual impairments and the functioning of people with disabilities (workshop: simulation glasses of vision conditions).

1.3 The etiquette for interacting with VI pupils

·        Duration: 1h

·        Lecturer: Typhlopedagogue Svetlana Vučković

·        Form: Lecture + video presentation

Short content: How to communicate with VI pupils. Presentation of adequate or inadequate approach to VI pupils.

1.4 Teaching the blind and partially sighted pupils

·        Duration: 1h

·        Lecturer: Teachers from School G.Videnović/G.Stojanović/M.Cvetinović

·        Form: Lecture

Short content: Presenting current methodology in teaching VI pupils. Problems in teaching: what needs to be adjusted when working with blind / partially sighted pupils and what is the role of the teacher in planning and conducting lessons.

1.5 Characteristics of the pupil with visual impairment in inclusion

·        Duration: 1h

·        Lecturer: (Blind) Teacher from school Gordana Videnović/Dalibor Šipka

·        Form: Lecture

Short content: Presentation of theoretical knowledge about the psychological characteristics of children with visual impairment and their functioning in an inclusive environment. Personal experience from a blind or low vision person throughout schooling.

1.6 Orientation and mobility of visually impaired pupils

·        Duration: 1h + 1h

·        Lecturer: Typhlopedagogue Svetlana Vučković

·        Form: Lecture + workshop

Short content: Presentation of the basics of monitoring the blind and visually impaired. Presentation of the vision guide technique.

1.7 Adapting the environment for the blind and partially sighted pupils

·        Duration: 1h + 0,5h

·        Lecturer: Typhlopedagogue Radmila Vidović/Dalibor Šipka

·        Form: Lecture + workshop

Short content: Presentation of guidelines for adapting the school environment and classroom. Practical examples.

2nd DAY OF EDUCATIONAL TRAINING: OPTIONAL MODULES OF SPECIFIC CONTENT

This part is optional. Participants choose up to 4 different lectures.

1. Braille basics

·        Duration: 1h + 1h

·        Lecturer: Typhlopedagogue - R.Vidović/S.Vučković

·        Form: Lecture + workshop

·        Who is it for: Subject Teachers

Short content: What is Braille? The role and importance of braille. Presentation of the basics of writing in 6 and 8 dot braille. Presentation of didactic tools and adapted textbook.

2. Didactic aids and special equipment for the blind and partially sighted

·        Duration: 1h + 1h

·        Lecturer: Typhlopedagogue/Teacher from school – Project members

·        Form: Lecture + workshop

·        Who is it for: Subject teachers

Short content: Presentation of basic aids, special equipment, and didactic material for the blind and visually impaired.

3. Availability of electronic resources

·        Duration: 1h + 1h

·        Lecturer: Computer science teacher G.Stojanović / Typhlopedagogue D.Šipka

·        Form: Lecture + workshop

·        Who is it for: Subject teachers, computer science teachers

Short content: Supporting ICT equipment for the blind and partially sighted. Availability of tools (programs, online services) used in classroom or distance learning. Principles of accessibility of web content. Determining the accessibility of websites. Basic rules for creating an accessible document.

4. Adapting texts for the blind (in Braille and digital)

·        Duration: 1h + 1h

·        Lecturer: Typhlopedagogue Dalibor Šipka

·        Form: Lecture + workshop

·        Who is it for: Subject teachers

Short content: Familiarization with the rules, recommendations, and practical examples of adapting and designing materials in printed and digital form for the blind.

5. Adapting texts for the partially sighted (in printed and digital form)

·        Duration: 1h + 1h

·        Lecturer: Typhlopedagogue Dalibor Šipka

·        Form: Lecture + workshop

·        Who is it for: Subject teachers

Short content: Getting acquainted with the recommendations for adapting and designing materials for the visually impaired by presenting examples from practice.

6. Specicfics of notation and didactic material for particular subject

·        Duration: 2h

·        Lecturer: Subject teachers from School “Veljko Ramadanović”

·        Form: Lecture + workshop

·        Who is it for: Subject teachers

Short content: Presentation of a Braille notation for particular subject and recommendations for adapting didactic materials. Adaptation of methods and forms of work, adaptation of didactic materials, use of adapted textbook, use of adapted accessories, technology. Examples from practice.

7. Tour in the school for visual impaired ,,Veljko Ramadanović”

·        Duration: 1h+1h

·        Lecturer: Project members

·        Form: Lecture + workshop

·        Who is it for: Subject teachers

Short content: Tour of the school and school yard. School equipment and offer of teaching and extracurricular contents.

8. Planning and preparation of an individualized program

·        Duration: 1h

·        Lecturer: Teachers from School V.Ramadanović - M.Cvetinović/G.Videnović/G.Stojanović

·        Form: Lecture + workshop

·        Who is it for: Subject teachers and school counselling service

Short content: Presentation of the role and tasks of the individual in the design of individualized programs and its attachments.

9. The role and importance of extracurricular activities for visually impaired pupils - proper selection of activity

·        Duration: 1h

·        Lecturer: Teachers from School V.Ramadanović - M.Cvetinović/G.Videnović/G.Stojanović

·        Form: Lecture

·        Who is it for: subject teachers and school counselling service

Short content: Presentation of possible extracurricular activities for VI pupils and advisory work in choosing activities based on pupils’ preferences.

 

The dissemination of the results of Learning Teaching Training activity is expected during the second semester of the school year 2020/21. It will be presented to subject teachers in mainstream schools. 

FIRST PRESENTATION OF OUR TRAINING PROGRAM FOR SUBJECT TEACHERS IN MAINSTREAM SCOOLS IN SERBIA IS SHEDULED FOR WEDNESDAY 26. 05. 2021. 

According to our Agenda we planned to present the following topics:
  • Blindness and low vision - types of vision problems
  • Characteristics of the pupil with visual impairment in inclusion
  • The etiquette for interacting with VI pupils 
  • Orientation and mobility of visually impaired pupils
  • Teaching the blind and partially sighted pupils
  • Discussion 



THE SECOND DAY OF TRAINING PROGRAM IS SCHEDULED FOR 02.06.2021. WITH FOLLOWING AGENDA ACCORDING TO THE TEACHERS INTEREST: 

  • Adapting texts for the blind and low vision pupils (in Braille and digital)
  • Planning and preparation of an individualized program
  • Availability of ICT resources to visually impaired pupils 
  • Didactic aids and special equipment for the blind and low vision pupils
